CAN I DO THE COURSE ONLINE OR A SHORTENED VERSION?

In short, no. The Hypnobirthing practice works because we teach the full course with all elements included. We cannot provide a shortened version, or online course, as we could not then guarantee that each and every couple would receive the full understanding of Hypnobirthing and leave with the ability to equip them for a more positive birth experience.

In the world of Hypnobirthing, you get back what you put in. Teach yourself to relax and practice the methods and you will be well prepared for your birth. We study for years towards exams and for professional qualifications, so we should prepare thoroughly for this important life event too!

DOES MY BIRTH PARTNER NEED TO ATTEND THE COURSE ?

Absolutely yes! It is important for your partner to join you on the course as they will have a very important role to play in the lead up to and during the birth.

Birth partners are often sceptical before attending a Hypnobirthing class. However, once they understand the physiology of birth and the simple importance of producing the right hormones, fathers are often converted. Often birth partners can struggle to find a role to play within the birth environment, however Hypnobirthing equips birth partners with practical techniques and knowledge about the birth, enabling them to become invaluable birthing partners. Hypnobirthing ensures that the partner has great purpose and responsibility during the practice of hypnobirthing in pregnancy and most importantly throughout the labour. The partner learns relaxation techniques to assist the mother and understands the choices they may have to make as a couple, with him acting as her advocate at all times. This empowering role allows the partner to bond further with mother and baby throughout the process.

WHEN IN MY PREGNANCY SHOULD I ATTEND THE COURSE

You can attend the course anytime during your pregnancy. The more Hypnobirthing practice that you have, the better. Most couples think about attending an antenatal class during the beginning of their third trimester or from 30 weeks onward.

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE ?

The 10-hour course split into four sessions (upto 3 hours each) this will usually be split over evenings and weekends. The course also requires practice of the breathing and relaxation techniques at home between the sessions and until your birth.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE COURSE ?

Hypnobirthing allows a birther to feel prepared and in control of her birthing experience. During the course you will learn techniques to relax and feel confident. Birthers are aware of what their body is doing and how to make the choices that are right for her and her baby, in order to progress the labour in a positive way. If a birther has a positive and empowering birth experience where they felt calm and in control this can have an enormous impact on the first few hours, days, weeks and months in establishing an important family bond and decreasing the risks of post-natal depression.
